Junior Accountant | Horizon Technology

This Junior Accountant position is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, streamlining AP/AR processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

• Mission: This role supports day-to-day financial operations by managing accounts payable and receivable, assisting with month-end close processes, and ensuring accurate financial records while collaborating with sales and the accounting supervisor.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Great Plains (a plus)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounts Payable: Process accounts payable transactions, ensuring accurate invoice coding, matching, and timely payment runs.
• Accounts Receivable: Manage accounts receivable functions, including issuing invoices and performing collections follow-up.
• Month-End Close: Prepare and post essential journal entries as a core part of the monthly close process.
• Reconciliations: Assist in completing account reconciliations and maintaining accurate supporting financial schedules.
• Business Partnering: Help with ad hoc projects and fulfill reporting requests originating from the Sales team.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, or demonstrate equivalent professional experience. Candidates should also have a foundational understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, as well as core general ledger concepts.
• Experience: A minimum of two years of direct accounting experience is required. Proven proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for various financial tasks is essential.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills to maintain financial documentation. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and consistently meet established deadlines. Clear, professional communication skills are necessary, coupled with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
• Bonus: Experience with advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, or XLOOKUP is considered a strong plus. Prior experience utilizing accounting software, specifically Great Plains, is also beneficial but not mandatory for the role.
