Accounting Manager | IDEA Public Schools
The Tone:
This is a full-time remote role at IDEA Public Schools, with a preference for candidates located in Florida and Ohio. IDEA Public Schools is a multi-entity organization that requires robust financial management. This role is critical for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting by overseeing core general ledger, payroll accounting, and capital asset processes, thereby maintaining balance sheet integrity across multiple entities and funding sources.

• Mission: To oversee core general ledger, payroll accounting, and capital asset processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Payroll Accounting & Reconciliation: Review and post payroll journal entries, ensure accurate coding, reconcile payroll liability accounts and employee benefits invoices, and perform inter-company payroll reconciliations.
• Cash & Bank Reconciliations: Perform high-complexity cash reconciliations, ensure bank balances align with the general ledger, reconcile payroll bank accounts, and resolve reconciling items.
• General Ledger & Balance Sheet Management: Own the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, prepare and post journal entries, maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts monthly, and support inter-company accounting.
• Capital Assets Accounting: Recognize capital assets from expenditures, maintain the capital asset subledger, manage Construction in Progress (CIP) activity, capitalize completed projects, calculate depreciation, and track asset disposals.
• Financial Close & Audit Support: Support the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, prepare audit-ready schedules, and assist with interim, year-end, and Single Audit engagements.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with progressive experience in financial operations and accounting roles.
• Experience: 3–5+ years of experience, with a strong preference for nonprofit, education, fund-accounting or multi-entity environments experience.
• Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, financial closing practices, and financial systems; expertise in payroll, capital asset, general ledger, cash reconciliation, and inter-company accounting; excellent organizational, reconciliation, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Bonus: CPA preferred.
