Accounting Associate | PBF Energy

The Tone:
This is a full-time, onsite role at PBF Energy, located at its Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ. PBF Energy Inc. is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. This pivotal Accounting Associate role is responsible for analyzing and documenting price updates for secondary costs within the RightAngle system. The position also involves preparing journal entries, developing cost metrics, and assisting with financial analysis and the monthly close process, playing a key role in the finance team.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Invoice Review: Review outstanding truck and rail freight invoices and documents for RightAngle price updates.
• Contract Analysis: Analyze secondary cost contractual amendments and document them for RightAngle price updates.
• Surcharge Calculation: Calculate and update RightAngle with contractual fuel surcharges based on published indices.
• Invoice Processing: Process secondary cost invoices through RightAngle and model SRA for accounts payable transactions.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare basic financial reports, assist in the monthly close, perform account reconciliations, and develop secondary cost metrics.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business.
• Experience: 1+ years working in a public company or manufacturing environment; working knowledge of accounting theory and principles (GAAP).
• Skills: Proficient with MS Excel and SAP; strong analytical, accounting, and math skills; effective verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; ability to learn new concepts quickly, meet deadlines, and adjust to multiple work demands.
