Staff Accountant | CMTA, Inc.
The Tone:
This is a Staff Accountant role at CMTA, Inc., a Legence Company. This position plays a valued role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of CMTA’s accounting systems and processes, assisting in maintaining the accounting system through analysis of customer contracts and the creation of invoices, credits, and revenue arrangements. The Staff Accountant will also collaborate with a team of engineers to assist in entering and maintaining accounting documentation related to revenue recognition within a fast-paced, engaging, and innovative environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare comprehensive revenue month-end close reports, conducting analysis of billing and costs associated with projects. You will also generate monthly reports for projects, collections, billings, contracts, and Work in Process (WIP) reporting.
• Accounting Cycle Management: Support the full month-end and year-end close processes by preparing accurate journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and ensuring timely adherence to deadlines.
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile and balance general ledger accounts on a monthly basis. You will also perform bank reconciliations and process account reconciliations by verifying balances and diligently resolving any discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
• Compliance & Audit Support: Actively participate in the annual audit and quarterly review procedures, ensuring timely and accurate documentation is provided for external auditors. This includes participation in the implementation of internal controls and compliance with SOX requirements.
• System & Program Maintenance: Fully utilize ERP software and in-house developed systems to achieve financial and operational objectives on a timely basis. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining lease and fleet management programs and assisting with ad hoc projects as assigned.
The Must-Haves
• Background: General accounting knowledge; a Bachelor’s in Finance or Accounting is preferred.
• Experience: At least one year of general accounting experience, including participation in the month-end close process.
• Skills: Strong Excel proficiency, ability to learn and effectively use ERP systems and in-house developed systems, and outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
• Bonus: A data-driven mindset, customer service orientation with strong communication skills, and a proven ability to work as a strong team player.
