Accounts Payable/Expense Analyst | Continental General
The Tone:
This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt role at Continental General, a hybrid position with 3 days in-office in the Austin, Texas area. The Continental General family of companies has provided insurance, including life and long-term care policies, to individuals and groups for over 30 years, currently supporting over 200,000 policyholders. This role is crucial for ensuring timely financial operations, assisting with critical expense analyses, and supporting enterprise budgeting to contribute to the company’s continuous growth and development.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Payments: Ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and expense vouchers by reviewing all documentation and prioritizing according to payment terms.
• Processing: Process accounts payable transactions, including check voids and stop payments, while maintaining accurate records and control reports.
• Analysis: Assist with enterprise budgeting and the preparation of financial and business-related analyses and research, including expense performance, accruals, and depreciation.
• Reporting: Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, prepare financial reports as needed, and gather supporting documentation for audit requests.
• Collaboration: Foster relationships with other departments to resolve problems and provide support in related areas such as general accounting or accounts receivable.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s degree or higher in business, accounting, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with working knowledge of basic accounting principles.
• Experience: 0 to 3 years of related experience; previous experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word; EAS General Ledger and Biznet experience; strong attention to detail; analytical acumen; excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize deadlines; strong problem-solving skills; clear and effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
