The Tone:
This is a full-time management trainee position at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., a leading transportation and logistics company. This role is crucial for learning the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, ensuring the safe and timely movement of freight. The individual in this role will be trained to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies, working with internal and external contacts to achieve best-in-class customer service and accurate freight planning and delivery.

• Mission: Learn to manage driver operations and freight logistics to ensure safe, timely delivery of goods, uphold customer service standards, and maintain compliance with regulations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Relationship Management: Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe, reliable outside carriers to minimize turnover and maximize ongoing productivity.
• Operational Oversight: Learn to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts, stepping in for absent personnel and supporting special projects to optimize fleet operations and achieve profitability.
• Efficiency and Profitability: Become proficient in maximizing the efficiency and profitability of fleet operations, making recommendations for continuous improvement, and presenting customer-specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Logistics Administration: Learn to perform administrative duties such as payroll, managing the Net-Revenue budget, driver counseling, accident reviews, and analyzing P&L statements.
• Freight Coordination: Learn to assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on-time service, meet customer requirements, and manage freight exceptions and driver ETA adjustments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field; OR a High School Diploma/GED with one year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
• Experience: Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations as applicable, and the ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed, with a willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Skills: Ability to anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts; accurately analyze situations to reach productive decisions; adapt to changing environments; establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers; and effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas.
• Bonus: Prior experience managing a team.
