The College of Liberal Arts seeks a detail-oriented and collaborative Accountant I to provide essential entry-level accounting and financial support. This position is critical for maintaining financial operations and ensuring compliance with university policies, contributing to the effective stewardship of university resources.

• Mission: Support the college’s financial operations by processing, reviewing, and monitoring financial transactions while ensuring compliance with university policies and accounting standards.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Transactions: Process and review financial transactions including travel vouchers, employee reimbursements, purchase card (P-Card) activities, salary and wage transfers, and invoices.
• Ensure Compliance and Reporting: Monitor financial transactions and documentation, assist with quarterly financial reporting, reconciliation, and budget monitoring, applying governmental accounting standards (GASB).
• Provide Departmental Support: Serve as the primary financial contact for assigned departments, responding to inquiries and providing guidance on university fiscal policies and procedures.
• Support Operations: Collaborate with the College’s finance team on effective financial management and reporting, assist with special projects, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a degree in a business-related field plus a CPA (licensed as a Certified Public Accountant).
• Experience: Experience processing travel reimbursements, procurement transactions, financial reporting, or reconciliation activities.
• Skills: Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.
• Bonus: Experience with higher education or governmental accounting and familiarity with enterprise financial systems and reporting tools.
