Staff Accountant (Hybrid) | WinnCompanies
The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at WinnCompanies, based three days a week in our Corporate Office with two days of remote flexibility, operating on a Monday through Friday schedule. WinnCompanies is an award-winning owner, developer, and manager of high-impact, mixed-income apartment communities, proudly recognized as one of the nation’s leading managers of multifamily housing and one of the largest operators of affordable housing communities. As a Staff Accountant within our WinnCompanies Military Housing Accounting Division, you will be a key contributor to the Airforce accounting team. Your diligent work will be essential in overseeing project accounting, managing cash, and ensuring accurate financial reporting for our Airforce sites, directly supporting the mission of providing quality housing.

• Mission: Owns the accurate financial record-keeping, cash management, and reporting for designated Airforce housing projects.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office, Yardi, RealPage
What You’ll Actually Do
• Accounting Duties: Process various accounting duties including collection reporting, preparing journal entries, assisting with physical inventory counts, performing comprehensive account reconciliations, and contributing to financial reporting. Additionally, provide support for the Accounts Payable (A/P) function as needed.
• Deposit Management: Record daily deposits accurately and maintain comprehensive deposit records in accordance with records retention policies.
• Payment Processing: Import monthly military allotment payment files and ensure their accurate posting within Yardi.
• File Submission: Submit monthly MIMO files to MAC/DFAS, including reviewing MIMO files and comparison reports for any necessary adjustments.
• Allotment Proration: Prorate resident allotments through MAC for partial rent months and complete associated deposit accounting tasks.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma or GED equivalent required, with a focus on accounting principles and practices.
• Experience: 0-2 years of accounting experience. Demonstrated experience with general computer systems, particularly Microsoft Office.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively, alongside excellent interpersonal skills for team collaboration. Exhibit superb attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all financial records and reports. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with both managers and other team members to foster a productive working environment. Foundational knowledge of financial software applications, database systems, and spreadsheets for efficient data management.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing a degree in a related field such as Accounting or Finance. Prior experience in receivables collections. Proficiency in Excel. Familiarity with Yardi and/or RealPage software.
