Technology Leadership Program – Risk & Security Engineer | Vanguard
The Tone:
This is a full-time Development Program at Vanguard, located in Malvern, PA. Vanguard is a large financial services organization that leverages technology as an enabling force to power its client experience, investment products, and advice. This Technology Leadership Program is designed to develop the next generation of IT leaders who can build secure, resilient systems that protect Vanguard’s clients and business from evolving cyber threats. The program focuses on building expertise at the intersection of software engineering and cybersecurity.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Design, build, and enhance secure applications and systems across Vanguard’s technology environment.
• Implement: Contribute to implementing security controls and best practices within software, platforms, and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot: Assist in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in applications and systems.
• Innovate: Build tools, automations, or processes that improve security and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate: Partner with engineering, security, and platform teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, completing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a concentration in computer science, computer engineering, IST, IT, CIS, Security, Risk, Cybersecurity, or related technical/engineering subject matter. Vanguard is not offering sponsorship for this position.
• Experience: Graduating in December 2026 or Spring 2027, with a strong interest in software engineering focused on security and system protection. Familiarity with programming concepts and a willingness to learn secure coding practices is required.
• Skills: Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, coupled with demonstrated leadership potential, initiative, and ability to take ownership of work. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment is also essential.
• Bonus: Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred.
