Recent Grad/Alumni – Safety Coordinator, Associate | Southland Industries
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Southland Industries, located in Tempe, AZ. Southland Industries is one of the nation’s largest MEP companies, specializing in Design/Build HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection. This role introduces recent graduates and alumni to occupational health and safety, ensuring all field and facility operations meet safety requirements and standards, contributing to a safe working environment.

• Team: Reports to the Safety Manager.
• Mission: To assist in enforcing safety procedures and ensuring compliance across construction sites and facilities within the Design/Build HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection industry.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Coordination: Assist the Safety Manager in enforcing and regulating all safety procedures to ensure company safety requirements are met across the field and facilities.
• Compliance: Ensure all tasks and functions on project sites are performed safely in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA standards.
• Documentation: Update the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) manual and assemble various safety manuals for distribution.
• Reporting: Report and manage all company vehicle claims and assist in reporting workers’ compensation claims.
• Training Support: Provide distribution of certification cards for various industrial equipment training and maintain records of signed safety tailgate meeting forms.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety principles relevant to the Design/Build HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection industry.
• Experience: Demonstrated passion for safety and a willingness to be responsible for implementing safety programs and protocols within a construction environment.
• Skills: Self-starter, takes initiative, collaborative spirit, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to help people be safer in their construction work environment.
