Project Accountant I | Cotton Holdings Inc.

The Tone:
This is a role at Cotton Holdings Inc., located in Katy, TX, that will require traveling to different job sites. This position is fundamental to the Administrative department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information for assigned projects. The Project Accountant I plays a crucial role in collecting, computing, classifying, recording, and verifying material billing data, directly impacting customer billing and the overall financial health of projects through meticulous record-keeping and financial oversight. This individual will also contribute by assisting senior Project Accountants with their daily deliverables.

• Mission: To meticulously manage project-specific accounting tasks, ensuring accurate customer billing, diligent expense tracking, and comprehensive maintenance of project-related financial records for sound financial oversight.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Record Management: Assist Project Accountant IIs in maintaining thorough and accurate project-related records to ensure data integrity.
• Customer Billing Operations: Create and manage project-related billings for customers, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of material billing data.
• Financial Analysis and Reporting: Review project labor hours and account totals related to assets and expenses, communicating discrepancies to management and assisting with the assessment of project variances.
• Financial Oversight and Opportunity Identification: Monitor cash flow practices by auditing and sending reports promptly, while also assessing project profitability and reporting opportunities for additional billings or cost savings to management.
• Stakeholder Communication and Project Closure: Respond to customer inquiries regarding project finances and assist with the administrative and financial close out processes for projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a High School diploma and a foundational understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: Possess at least 1 year of pertinent accounting experience within a professional setting.
• Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication abilities, some familiarity with Microsoft Excel, strong detail orientation, the capacity to exercise sound judgment in decision making, and the ability to maintain focus on routine day-to-day activities.
• Bonus: An Associate degree is preferred for this position, enhancing foundational knowledge.
