Reinsurance Accounting Intern (Peoria, IL Fall 2026 – Spring & Summer 2027) | RLI Insurance Company

The Tone:
This is a year-round internship at RLI Insurance Company, located in Peoria, IL. This role offers a paid, hands-on learning experience for students to gain practical industry knowledge in reinsurance accounting, network with professionals, and develop essential skills within a highly-rated organization.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Year-round (Part-time during school year, Full-time during summer)
• Location: In-person, Peoria, IL
• Pay: $20 hourly
• Team: Accounting department, specifically the Reinsurance Accounting area. Reports under frequent supervision.
• Mission: Gain a broad understanding of the RLI business through a real-world experience and on-the-job training.
• Tech Stack: Excel, reinsurance accounting system

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Analysis: Compile and analyze data for various internal and external reports.
• Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Perform various balance sheet reconciliations.
• System Reconciliation: Perform various systems reconciliations.
• Transaction Journalization: Journalize various transactions and review their impact on financial statements.
• System Maintenance: Maintain and update various transactions and entries in the reinsurance accounting system.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior majoring in Accounting.
• Experience: Demonstrated success in a classroom setting, coupled with a desire to learn.
• Skills: Organized, detail-oriented, analytical, problem-solver, clear and effective communication, proficiency in Excel, solid grammar, and writing skills.
• Bonus: Minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
