What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Management: Perform core general ledger accounting tasks, including precise reconciliations and accurate journal entries, ensuring the integrity of financial records.
• Month-End Close Support: Actively support the preparation process for month-end close and contribute to the generation of related financial reporting.
• Business Tax Preparation: Prepare and diligently manage various business taxes, specifically property, license, sales, and excise taxes, to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
• Tax Compliance Assistance: Provide assistance with state and local tax compliance requirements, helping the organization meet its regulatory obligations.
• Ad Hoc Projects: Complete ad hoc accounting tasks and special projects as requested by the leadership team, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is the minimum educational requirement, providing the foundational knowledge necessary for this early-career accounting role within a government services environment.
• Experience: Candidates should possess demonstrable exposure to either general ledger accounting principles or practical tax-related work; prior experience with Costpoint or similar ERP systems is preferred.
• Skills: Essential skills include basic to intermediate proficiency in Excel, the ability to perform general ledger accounting tasks, support month-end close processes, and prepare various business taxes. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate key professional attributes such as being collaborative, curious, organized, dependable, professional, approachable, and engaged in their work within a structured team environment.
