This is an entry-level training position at Southeastern Freight Lines, designed to launch careers in operational leadership. The company builds a robust network for regional freight transportation, powered by individuals who drive efficiency and effective service. This Management Trainee role is fundamental to cultivating the next generation of leaders, preparing them through an intensive 16-week program to step into supervisory positions that maintain the seamless flow of goods across the company’s cross-dock operations. The program is specifically structured to impart critical industry knowledge and leadership competencies, ensuring readiness for immediate impact upon completion and subsequent relocation.

• Mission: Prepare for an initial leadership/supervisory role in operations by mastering transportation industry principles and efficient cross-dock operations.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Completion: Successfully complete the intensive 16-week Operations Management Trainee Program, requiring guided and independent study, designed to prepare for a leadership role.
• Industry Expertise: Learn the basic principles of the transportation industry and acquire proficiency in efficient cross-dock operations, critical for freight movement.
• Leadership Development: Cultivate effective leadership communication and enhance relationship-building skills under the direct mentorship of an experienced leader.
• Field Immersion: Accompany and observe an Account Manager during customer sales calls and join drivers on local delivery routes to understand the complete freight delivery process.
• Internal Collaboration: Interface daily with appropriate Support Center and Service Center associates to effectively complete various aspects of the comprehensive training program.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation or Logistics, qualifying candidates for this entry-level leadership training program, with a readiness to relocate to another facility for the first leadership role.
• Experience: Have at least two years of related work experience, offered as an alternative qualification to the Bachelor’s Degree, and maintain an acceptable driving history aligned with company standards.
• Skills: Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective listening abilities, possess basic computer skills, demonstrate a very strong work ethic, and maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
