Business Solutions Associate | Dodge & Cox
The Tone:
This is a full-time rotational program at Dodge & Cox, located in San Francisco, CA, operating under a 4/1 hybrid work model. Dodge & Cox is a leading active asset manager committed to enhancing its operational efficiency. This program is designed for exceptional individuals who will actively shape the firm’s future by modernizing complex operations and leveraging technology in a highly regulated industry. Participants will have real ownership of projects and receive direct mentorship from senior leadership, working on problems with significant business consequences related to process redesign, data-driven business cases, and the strategic application of AI and automation tools.

• Mission: This role aims to identify and implement solutions to modernize and optimize firm operations through process redesign, data-driven analysis, and strategic application of technology.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Diagnose: Map and diagnose meaningful, often cross-functional business processes end-to-end to identify bottlenecks, manual hand-offs, redundancies, and opportunities for automation, redesign, or strategic application of AI.
• Translate: Translate findings into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders to assess opportunities for improvements and technology-enabled solutions.
• Partner: Partner directly with technology, operations, and business teams to design, pilot, and drive solutions from proof of concept through implementation and adoption.
• Build Fluency: Develop comprehensive business fluency across the firm by understanding each department’s goals, workflows, controls, and key metrics, carrying those insights forward across rotations.
• Identify Patterns: Identify operational patterns across teams, share insights, and develop reusable frameworks where workflows or solutions can be standardized or scaled firm-wide.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record in AI, Math, Economics, Data or Computer Science, or a similar analytically rigorous field.
• Experience: Up to 5 years of professional experience in financial services, technology, management consulting, or data analytics, or an undergraduate experience that demonstrates exceptional potential.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to break down complex, ambiguous problems and develop structured, actionable recommendations; analytical rigor and comfort working with data to support decision-making; clear, concise communication equally effective with technical and non-technical senior stakeholders; strong technical fluency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Excel).
• Bonus: Working knowledge of cloud software (e.g., Snowflake, Azure); experience with process redesign, automation, or AI/ML tools in applied settings; completion of one-year master’s programs in AI, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related fields.
