Staff Accountant | Dairy Management Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Dairy Management Inc., located in the greater Chicagoland area, with in-office presence required Tuesday through Thursday. Dairy Management Inc. is a nonprofit organization funded by America’s nearly 28,000 dairy farmers and dairy importers, dedicated to increasing sales and demand for dairy products through research, education, and innovation. This role is crucial in supporting the Finance and Accounting Department, ensuring accurate financial records and a smooth financial close process for the organization’s client companies.

• Mission: Ensures the smooth and timely execution of general ledger processes and financial close activities for DMI Client Companies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Account Reconciliation: Ensure account balances are accurate by analyzing account activity and preparing monthly reconciliations.
• Month-End Activities: Assist in month-end close activities, including journal entries, reclassifications, and allocations.
• Financial Reporting: Help prepare monthly financial reporting within assigned companies.
• Audit Preparation: Assist in compiling necessary items related to the annual external audit.
• Process Improvement: Work on ad hoc projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, for an entry-level role focused on general ledger accounting.
• Experience: 0-3 years of general ledger accounting experience.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), excellent verbal and written communications skills, continuous improvement mindset.
• Bonus: Non-for-Profit experience, CPA or CPA candidate.
