Bookkeeper | University of Miami
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, located in Miami, FL. UHealth-University of Miami Health System is South Florida’s only university-based health system, known for providing leading-edge patient care powered by ground-breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine. The Bookkeeper maintains and records business transactions, balances ledgers, reconciles accounts, and prepares reports for the assigned department, ensuring adherence to established University policies and applicable rules and regulations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Recordkeeping: Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and maintain accurate financial records using accounting software.
• Cash Management: Receive, record, and prepare cash, checks, and vouchers for banking, including overseeing daily cashier office operations and preparing deposits for pick up.
• Account Reconciliation: Balance ledgers, reconcile accounts, research discrepancies with banking and merchant services, and report findings to appropriate managing staff.
• Financial Reporting: Compile statistical, financial, and accounting reports and tables related to cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits/losses.
• Vendor Payments: Conduct invoice activities and process payments to vendors for delivered materials, ensuring expenditures are in accordance with code balances.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or equivalent, with knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Skills:
• Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
• Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
• Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
• Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
