The Tone:

Zipline designs, builds, and operates the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies such as blood, vaccines, medical supplies, food, and retail products across four continents, making a delivery every 30 seconds. The Corporate Accountant is crucial for supporting the intricate month-end close process, focusing specifically on inventory, manufacturing, maintenance, and logistics. This position ensures financial data accurately reflects the physical movement of goods and assets across the business, directly impacting the company’s ability to scale its logistics system and meaningfully improve people’s lives through redefining global access to essential items.

The TL;DR

• Team: Works closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Operations teams.
• Mission: To ensure Zipline’s financial data accurately reflects the physical movement of goods and assets across the business.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support: Support the comprehensive month-end close process by accurately running recurring inventory, freight, and other operational accounting reports.
• Prepare: Prepare detailed first-level review packages for all inventory activity, roll forwards, reconciliations, and cycle counts.
• Analyze: Assist with thorough cost validation, conduct detailed variance analysis, and investigate any unusual financial trends or activities.
• Maintain: Maintain and validate key master data, including location types, product categories, inventory classifications, and various reporting attributes.
• Review: Support recurring fixed asset review processes, including careful tracking of asset additions, disposals, transfers, classifications, and verification of records.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Solid foundational knowledge in corporate accounting principles, particularly those related to inventory management, manufacturing costs, maintenance accounting, and logistics operations.
• Experience: Demonstrated functional experience in supporting month-end close activities, preparing financial reconciliations, conducting cost and variance analysis, maintaining accurate master data, and assisting with fixed asset and inventory reviews.
• Skills: Proficiency in running financial reports, preparing detailed review packages, performing reconciliations, analyzing financial variances, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of inventory and fixed asset data.
