Accounting Intern – Sterling, VA | Geoquest USA
The Tone:
This is an internship at Geoquest USA, located in Sterling, VA. GeoQuest USA, Inc., formerly The Reinforced Earth Company, is recognized as the inventor and market leader of the MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) retaining wall industry, providing design and supply of proprietary retaining wall systems and earth technologies for civil engineering projects. This role offers an accounting student the opportunity to apply and develop their knowledge and skills in a professional setting, supporting the accounting team with various projects and tasks under the mentorship of experienced professionals.

• Mission: Supports the accounting team by applying accounting knowledge and skills to assist with various projects and tasks.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Power BI
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Analysis: Conduct variance analysis for projects to evaluate their “return on experience.”
• Reporting: Prepare and deliver margin fade reports.
• Automation: Develop and automate scorecards, applying Power BI skills.
• Documentation: Digitalize existing documentation to reduce physical storage requirements.
• Process Improvement: Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and map forecast files for clarity and efficiency.
• Support: Assist with various ad hoc projects as needed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree (in progress or recent graduate) in finance or accounting; basic understanding of financial and accounting principles from introductory courses.
• Experience: Intermediate or higher proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple assignments or projects simultaneously; professional interpersonal and problem-solving skills for constructive issue resolution with various stakeholders.
