Financial Analyst – GLM – Mortgage Accounting | Wintrust Financial Corporation
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Wintrust Financial Corporation, located in Rosemont, IL. Wintrust is a $66 billion financial institution providing community and commercial banking, specialty finance, and wealth management services across 50 states through 16 bank charters and nine non-bank businesses. This role supports the Corporate Controller/Accounting Department by managing critical daily cash functions, mortgage accounting, and financial analysis, which are essential for the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial reporting and operations. The position plays a key part in the financial team, requiring cross-departmental interaction and careful handling of sensitive information.

• Team: Supports the Wintrust Finance Corporate Controller/Accounting Department.
• Mission: Supports daily cash management, mortgage-related accounting, and financial analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting for the Corporate Controller.
• Tech Stack: Workday GL system, Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, advanced Excel (XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, complex formulas, pivot tables, macros/VBA).
What You’ll Actually Do
• Monitor: Interpret and post activity for operating, cash clearing, and wire transfer bank accounts.
• Reconcile: Complete general ledger entries and daily reconciliations for mortgage-related activity across various loan origination systems.
• Support: Assist the AVP Finance Manager and Accounting department in the Month End Close process, performing various general ledger account analyses.
• Improve: Maintain and enhance quality results by adhering to established standards and recommending improved policies and procedures.
• Project Manage: Support the Corporate Controller on various special projects as required.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency (including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, complex formulas, pivot tables, macros/VBA), excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (written and oral) skills, strong time-management skills, ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines and attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
• Bonus: Experience in the mortgage industry, knowledge of mortgage banking applications, or familiarity with the Workday GL system.
