The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Fitzgerald & Glasshof, LLC, a growing law firm seeking a motivated individual to manage its financial operations. This position represents an exceptional opportunity for a recent college graduate in Accounting or Finance to build a long-term career in financial management. The role offers significant growth potential, starting with core accounting tasks like billing and collections, and is designed to develop into a Controller/CFO-level position, eventually overseeing the firm’s entire financial strategy. The firm is looking for a self-motivated individual eager to take on increasing responsibility and become a vital part of its leadership team.

• Team: Reports to the current contracted CFO and collaborates with attorneys and firm leadership.
• Mission: To establish and manage robust billing, collections, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, and financial reporting processes, with an ultimate goal of overseeing all financial operations.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, various accounting and billing software.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Billing Management: Manage the firm’s comprehensive monthly billing process, including the accurate preparation and thorough review of client invoices.
• Collections & Receivables: Proactively monitor accounts receivable, diligently follow up on outstanding client balances, and assist with collections through professional communication with clients regarding past-due accounts.
• Record Keeping & Reconciliation: Accurately process and apply client payments, maintain precise accounts receivable and accounts payable records, and perform detailed bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports and analysis, track firm expenses, and contribute to budgeting and cash-flow management, while also supporting the firm’s outside CPA with tax preparation and year-end accounting.
• Process Improvement & Collaboration: Identify and implement opportunities to improve existing accounting, billing, collections, and overall financial processes, working closely with attorneys and firm leadership to address issues and enhance efficiency.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; suitable for recent college graduates.
• Experience: Strong academic record with a demonstrated interest in accounting and financial management; ability to quickly learn new accounting and billing software.
• Skills: Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; professional communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, and leadership; proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Bonus: High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information; self-motivated, dependable, and eager to take on increasing responsibility, aiming for a Controller/CFO-level role.
