Accountant | Accrete

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Accrete, based on-site. Accrete is a dual-use AI software company that licenses its Knowledge Engine Platform and Expert AI Agents to government and enterprise clients. This platform creates a unified semantic representation of an organization’s ground truth, capturing tacit domain knowledge and connecting information silos to enable expert agents to reason across complex data. The Accountant will be a detail-oriented and highly organized professional, responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance within a high-growth environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
General Accounting: Prepare and post comprehensive journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll, fixed assets, and inter-company transactions. This includes maintaining and reconciling all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, as well as performing bank and credit card reconciliations and assisting with general ledger maintenance to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
Financial Close: Support the entire monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. This involves preparing detailed supporting schedules and documentation for account reconciliations, alongside analyzing variances and investigating any discrepancies to maintain financial integrity.
Payroll & Expenses: Record and reconcile payroll journal entries, ensuring accuracy across all payroll accounts. Additionally, assist with the accounting for various employee-related compensations such as benefits, commissions, bonuses, and equity compensation, and review employee expense reports for compliance with company policy.
Audit & Compliance: Prepare necessary audit schedules and actively assist with requests from external auditors. This also encompasses supporting tax filings and various compliance requirements, while maintaining thorough documentation to uphold internal controls and accounting policies.
Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing accounting processes and enhance operational efficiency. This role will assist with the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and workflows to drive continuous improvement.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, providing a strong foundation in financial principles and practices.
• Experience: Possess 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience. This includes strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and practical experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar financial platforms.
• Skills: Demonstrate a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP principles. Exhibit strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills crucial for managing multiple financial responsibilities accurately.
• Bonus: Possess a CPA certification or show active progress toward obtaining it. Experience within a startup or high-growth technology company is preferred, along with familiarity in payroll accounting and stock compensation. Prior experience supporting annual audits is also a valuable asset.
