This is an early career Accountant I role at A. O. Smith Corporation, a global leader applying innovative technologies and energy-efficient solutions to products manufactured and marketed worldwide. The company is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of residential and commercial water heating equipment and boilers, as well as a manufacturer of water treatment products. With approximately 12,000 employees globally, this hybrid position supports the NAWT Business Unit from locations including Haltom, TX, or Appleton, WI. In this role, you will be instrumental in the preparation, examination, and interpretation of vital accounting and financial records, ensuring compliance and providing crucial insights for the business unit.

• Mission: Perform a variety of activities to ensure the accurate preparation, examination, and interpretation of accounting and financial records, reports, and statements.
• Tech Stack: Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis), SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Infor, Epicor, NetSuite

What You’ll Actually Do
• Expense Analysis: Assemble plant expense analysis and report updates to the staff on a regular basis.
• Bank Reconciliation: Prepare bank reconciliations for all operating, disbursement, payroll, and investment accounts.
• Journal Entries & Taxes: Prepare specific monthly journal entries, sales tax returns, and warranty expense account analysis.
• Discrepancy Resolution: Analyze and reconcile any discrepancies within the general accounting functions, including reporting on utility use and expenditures.
• Production Oversight: Settle and close production orders, and investigate production variances.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field; this is an entry-level position.
• Experience: Internship, co-op, or 1-2 years of accounting experience is preferred, with manufacturing or inventory accounting exposure also preferred.
• Skills: Strong Excel skills, including proficiency with PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
• Bonus: SAP knowledge is a plus.
