Project Engineer Intern – Fall 26 | Helix Electric
The Tone:

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Pay: $21–$24 hourly
• Team: Reports to a Project Manager and acts as a liaison between the field and the office.
• Mission: Support Project Managers in defining, planning, executing, and finalizing projects within budget and schedule.
• Tech Stack: Accubid, BIM
What You’ll Actually Do
• Relationship Building: Develop professional relationships with project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors to foster a collaborative team environment.
• Project Tracking & Safety: Collaborate with superintendents to track materials, maintain vendor relationships, and champion jobsite safety and accident prevention.
• Project Documentation & Estimating: Produce and maintain detailed job logs (transmittals, submittals, RFIs) and engage in the change order process, assisting with estimating using Accubid.
• Site Operations & Planning: Walk job sites to learn the electrical trade, manage labor schedules, and coordinate with the BIM department for project planning and prefabrication orders.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program such as Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous construction or internship experience preferred.
• Skills: Highly motivated with a tendency to take initiative; basic math skills with the ability to calculate and analyze data; excellent written and verbal communication skills; good organizational skills; ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
• Bonus: A mindset for making continuous improvements of department processes.
