Accounting Intern | Daktronics
The Tone:
This is an Accounting Internship at Daktronics, with flexible work options including remote from a U.S. home office or on-site at Brookings or Sioux Falls, SD campuses. Daktronics designs and manufactures cutting-edge digital LED display technology and audio systems for various applications. This role contributes to the financial health and operational excellence of the company by supporting key accounting functions and providing accurate financial information to internal and external stakeholders. You will receive mentorship and gain hands-on experience in industry practices.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger & Reporting: Support month-end financial close processes, maintain journal entries, and assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable duties.
• Financial Statements & Compliance: Prepare schedules for SEC filings, contribute to financial statement preparation and publication, and aid in financial statement and internal control audits.
• Cost Accounting: Assist with month-end reconciliation processes, maintain and publish key reports for manufacturing and inventory items, and support the analysis of labor and overhead rates.
• Services Accounting: Monitor and correct system and transaction errors, and help with services accounting responsibilities including billing, warranty accounting, and reporting.
• Other Financial Operations: Prepare monthly and quarterly sales tax returns, manage project accounting duties by monitoring under billings, and conduct daily cash reporting and cash flow monitoring.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program related to Accounting, having completed sophomore year.
• Experience: Commitment to 40 hours per week and the ability to take a semester off from school to complete the internship if not already graduated. Preferred academic performance includes a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Skills: Good oral and written communication, strong organizational skills, self-motivation, fluency in English, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Bonus: Avid interest in accounting and tax operations, motivation to learn Daktronics’ specific ERP software, flexibility, and a team-oriented mindset.
