General Manager | Barry’s
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Barry’s, located in Williamsburg. Barry’s is known for its original strength and cardio interval fitness experience, offering immersive, high-intensity, one-hour workouts that combine weights and treadmill running. This role is crucial for leading a single studio, ensuring its overall operation, delivering an excellent client experience, and managing the team effectively. The General Manager directly influences the studio’s performance and upholds the brand’s community and culture daily.

• Team: Leads studio management teams (Front Desk, FuelBar, Retail, Facilities) and reports to the Director of Operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Studio Operations: Oversee daily functions of the studio, including Front Desk, FuelBar, Retail, and Facilities, ensuring all spaces are clean, updated, and properly staffed through labor schedule management.
• Performance Management: Drive studio business performance by strategically assessing and meeting key metrics for the studio, retail, and FuelBar, making informed business decisions to achieve goals.
• Team Development: Lead all aspects of people management, from recruiting, screening, and onboarding new employees, to conducting performance reviews, providing ongoing coaching, and ensuring high hospitality standards.
• Marketing & Community Engagement: Collaborate with local and corporate marketing teams to implement new brand initiatives and develop client and corporate acquisition strategies to grow the studio’s presence.
• Brand and Culture Stewardship: Uphold Barry’s core values and culture daily, fostering a unified staff engagement, and representing the brand effectively within the studio and the broader local fitness community.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Experience: 3-5 years in a management role within fitness, hospitality, retail, or food/beverage.
• Skills: Demonstrated financial acumen for assessing business decisions, exceptional written and oral communication, proven ability to lead and motivate teams, adept at handling multiple projects in time-sensitive settings, and strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
