The Tone:
This is a full-time management role for a couple at U-Haul, located in Glendale, AZ. U-Haul is seeking a responsible, motivated, and thoughtful couple to manage one of its moving and storage centers. This team-based position involves one spouse as General Manager and the other as Assistant Manager, supported by an on-site apartment. The role is critical for ensuring the center’s profitability and efficiency, managing staff, tracking inventory, and proactively solving problems. It offers varied and rewarding work with career stability and opportunities for advancement within U-Haul.

• Team: A couple team manages the center; one takes the General Manager role, and the other serves as Assistant Manager.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial and Inventory Management: Perform profit/loss analyses, track and itemize inventory, and manage fuel receipts and petty cash to maintain fiscal responsibility.
• Team Leadership and Development: Hire, mentor, and manage new team members, including overseeing the personnel budget, to build an effective and motivated staff.
• Equipment and Fleet Operations: Manage the U-Haul fleet to ensure equipment is clean, well-maintained, and readily available for customers.
• Customer Service Excellence: Ensure that all customers receive the highest quality of care and support, addressing their needs and solving problems efficiently.
• Facility and Safety Oversight: Clean and monitor the premises, maintain a secure environment, and participate in continuous U-Haul education to uphold operational standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 1-3 years of management experience within retail or another service industry, with demonstrated responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction. This includes proven management proficiency in high-volume retail environments with clear profit and loss (P&L) accountability.
• Skills: Strong computer expertise, exceptional organizational expertise, and a valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain a good driving record are essential for this role.
• Bonus: The ability to work weekends and holidays as needed to meet operational demands.
