• Mission: This person will assist with and manage an active docket of civil litigation matters, primarily supporting insurance defense and construction litigation matters.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Draft legal documents: Prepare and draft a variety of essential legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and legal memoranda, ensuring accuracy and strategic alignment.
• Client communication: Develop and prepare comprehensive client reports and case evaluations, providing clear and concise updates on case status and strategic recommendations.
• Attend proceedings: Represent clients by attending hearings, depositions, and mediations as necessary, advocating effectively and gathering critical information for case progression.
• Case management: Actively assist with developing overall case strategy, manage and organize case files efficiently, and diligently track and meet all deadlines across multiple active litigation matters.
• Trial support: Provide crucial support for all phases of trial preparation, including evidence organization, witness preparation, and legal research, and participate in trial proceedings as appropriate to build practical courtroom experience.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possession of a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school is required. Candidates must be admitted to practice law in the state of Texas, demonstrating foundational legal qualifications. This role is suited for an early to mid-career professional seeking to specialize and grow within civil litigation.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 to 5 years of litigation experience is preferred, specifically involving the practical application of legal knowledge in a courtroom setting or through managing an active docket of matters. This includes prior experience in drafting legal documents and managing case progression.
• Skills: Demonstrated excellent writing skills for producing clear and persuasive legal documents; strong analytical skills for complex legal issues; superior organizational skills for managing multiple cases; the ability to efficiently manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment; and a self-motivated approach with a strong desire to continually grow and develop as a litigator.
• Bonus: Prior experience in insurance defense and construction litigation matters is highly advantageous, as these areas form the primary focus of the role.
