This is an early career public safety position at Kootenai County, located in Coeur d’Alene, ID. • Mission: Ensuring the safety and security of Kootenai County court facilities, personnel, and the public during legal proceedings.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Security Operations: Provide armed security throughout Kootenai County court facilities.
• Custody Management: Escort and supervise in-custody defendants between detention facilities and courtrooms.
• Order Maintenance: Maintain order and security during court proceedings, conducting inspections for safety threats.
• Emergency Response: Serve as a first responder during emergencies such as fire alarms, evacuations, bomb threats, and critical incidents.
• Jury Support: Assist with jury operations, including juror management, data entry, and trial preparation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or GED. Candidates must have no felony convictions or history of domestic violence, demonstrating integrity for a position of public trust.
• Experience: At least 24 months of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skills: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license, First Aid, CPR, and required firearms certifications. Must successfully pass quarterly firearms qualifications and annual Taser certification.
