The Tone:
This is a full-time role for an HR Manager, located in Houston, TX, at an organization within the oilfield services or energy industry. This critical position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the human resources function, directly supporting the organization’s overarching workforce strategy. The role is essential for ensuring compliance with employment laws, fostering employee engagement, enhancing productivity, and driving workforce development initiatives.

• Team: Leads the HR team and reports to the President.
• Mission: To lead and manage all HR operations and initiatives, ensuring compliance and supporting organizational workforce strategy and employee well-being.
• Tech Stack: HRIS, payroll, benefits systems, timekeeping systems, Paylocity, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Leadership: Lead and supervise the HR team, including hiring, scheduling, training, development, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
• Employee Relations: Oversee employee relations matters, provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, and manage investigations and grievances.
• Program Management: Develop, update, implement, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and programs across performance management, recruitment, onboarding, training, and development.
• Benefits and Compensation: Administer employee benefits programs, assist with plan evaluation and renewals, manage vendor relationships, and partner with Accounting on payroll-related matters.
• Compliance and Strategy: Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws (EEO, ERISA, FLSA, FMLA), partner with Legal on HR compliance, and conduct compensation research to ensure competitive pay practices.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience with significant exposure to employee relations, compensation, recruitment, training and development, compliance, and workforce planning. Prior HR supervisory or leadership experience and experience administering HRIS, payroll, benefits, and timekeeping systems are required.
• Skills: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
• Bonus: Experience within the oilfield services or energy industry, Paylocity experience, experience with self-funded employee benefit plans, benefits brokers, and plan renewals, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent certification, and experience working in an ISO environment.
