Substitute Health Technician/LPN (2026-27) | Orting School District

This is an on-call substitute position at Orting School District, located in Orting, WA. This role is vital for ensuring continuous health support by providing coverage in school health rooms when regular Health Technicians or LPNs are absent, maintaining student well-being throughout the school day.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Student Monitoring: Monitor students in various school settings, including the health room and classrooms, to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Health Screenings: Assist with a range of health screenings for students, such as vision, hearing, height, and weight assessments.
• Health Room Management: Contribute to the effective management and organization of school health rooms, ensuring smooth operations.
• Resource Oversight: Aid in the care, maintenance, and inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for health room functions.
• Professional Conduct: Model appropriate behavior for students, maintain appropriate confidentiality, and establish effective working relationships with staff, parents, and students.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess the foundational knowledge to perform basic math and reading tasks. For LPN applicants, a valid State of Washington Practical Nurse License is required.
• Certifications: Hold current First Aid and CPR Certifications and be prepared to provide a copy for verification. Must complete SafeSchools trainings and adhere to the district’s infection control plan.
• Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in obtaining, clarifying, and exchanging information effectively, as well as gathering, collecting, and accurately recording data. Exhibit the ability to remain calm and focused even under stressful conditions, adapt to changing work priorities, and communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
