The Tone:
This is an 18-month rotational program at Notion, located in San Francisco, CA. Notion is building a collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents think together, aiming to be one place for knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools. This role is crucial for building the insights engine that powers every people decision Notion makes, setting the standard for how humans work together in the AI era. It seeks individuals who are self-driven, curious, and passionate about leveraging AI to create the future of work.

• Mission: Builds the insights engine powering every people decision and runs the HR operations engine for Notion.
• Tech Stack: SQL, Workday, Snowflake, Notion, AI tools
What You’ll Actually Do
• Insights Engine: Write SQL to power headcount, attrition, and hiring funnel dashboards, transforming raw people data into analyses that drive real decisions and building models to identify process improvements.
• HR Operations: Execute employee lifecycle transactions in Workday, coordinate onboarding and offboarding end-to-end, resolve employee requests, and maintain clean people data for compliance and audits.
• Data Storytelling: Take complex people questions and produce clear narratives that connect numbers to insights and recommended decisions, owning the analytical process from data pulling to presenting to senior leadership.
• AI Workflows: Identify manual, repetitive HR operations tasks and prototype smarter, automated solutions such as AI-assisted ticket triage or self-running checklists.
• Notion Expertise: Build and own the People team’s Notion workspace, creating operating systems with pages, databases, dashboards, and views that the entire team relies on.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Strong foundation in business, economics, statistics, or mathematics with demonstrated quantitative sharpness and analytical storytelling ability.
• Experience: Proven ability to build, learn quickly, and take initiative, with a focus on impact and problem-solving rather than formal training.
• Skills: SQL as a native language for querying and transforming data; AI-fluent, using AI tools daily as a multiplier; and a Notion power user, capable of building advanced operating systems within the platform.
• Bonus: Exposure to Python; familiarity with Workday, Snowflake, or similar HRIS/data warehouse tools; or prior experience in a business operations, finance, or sales operations context (internships included).
