The TL;DR
• Role: Early Career
• Type: Varying hours; shifts are 7.5 hours in duration, with start times that may range between 8am and 12pm to accommodate resident needs, especially those in Memory Care.
• Location: In-person, requiring presence at the property and travel to external sites for activities.
• Team: This role is an integral part of the Activities Department, working under the guidance of the Resident Program Director.
• Mission: To create and deliver a diverse range of recreational and social activities that enrich residents’ lives, promote their well-being, and ensure a fulfilling daily experience within a supportive community.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Development: Actively assist in the comprehensive planning, strategic coordination, and thorough evaluation of all resident activities, ensuring programs meet the diverse needs and interests of the community.
• Resident Engagement & Support: Enthusiastically encourage and facilitate high levels of participation from residents in a wide array of programs and activities, including escorting residents safely on assigned activities away from the property and assisting with their registration.
• Activity Leadership: Take charge in conducting various recreational, social, and educational activities as directed by the Resident Program Director, contributing to a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for residents.
• Resident Needs Assessment: Support efforts to survey and interview residents to meticulously determine their interests, talents, and overall satisfaction, utilizing this feedback to enhance activity offerings and maintain general observation of residents to share appropriate information with staff.
• Resource and Budget Management: Maintain an organized inventory of necessary activity supplies, which includes executing outside purchasing when required, and adhering strictly to departmental budget guidelines for responsible resource allocation.
• Operational Compliance: Consistently attend all required training sessions, in-service programs, and staff meetings, while adhering to all Company policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A high school diploma or GED is essential, or individuals with equivalent related work experience who are naturally caring, approachable, flexible, organized, creative, and fun.
• Experience: Candidates must possess six (6) months to one (1) year of prior experience performing activity-related duties, demonstrating practical skills in engaging and supporting residents effectively.
• Skills: Demonstrated capability to work effectively with individuals who have cognitive, physical, or sensory disabilities, along with the proven ability to assume a leadership role within the activities department during the absence of the Activities Director.
• Bonus: A major plus for applicants includes specific experience working with Memory Care residents, indicating a specialized understanding and compassionate approach to their unique needs.
