The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Yancey Bros. Co., located in Georgia. Since 1914, Yancey Bros. Co. has served as the authorized Caterpillar equipment dealer for Georgia, providing high-quality sales, parts, and service for heavy and compact construction equipment and on-highway trucks. This Staff Accountant position is critical for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting, which directly supports the company’s operational understanding and decision-making for its customers and employees. The role involves close collaboration with operations personnel to maintain robust financial health for the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Department Liaison: Act as the accounting department’s liaison for multiple operations, working closely with personnel to review income statements for accuracy and completeness, prepare ad hoc reports, and research financial statement issues.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare internal and external financial statements, including dashboard and key statistic reports for various stakeholders.
• Account Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, prepare correcting journal entries, and generate supporting work papers for auditors.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analysis for assigned areas of responsibility and effectively communicate findings to operational management in a timely manner.
• Safety & Other: Participate in required safety programs, work in a safe manner, and perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university, with a thorough knowledge of GAAP and full cycle accounting, including cost of sale accounting.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in full cycle accounting and financial statement preparation/analysis with a stable work history.
• Skills: Thorough knowledge of GAAP and cost of sale accounting, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced skill in MS Excel, attention to detail and accuracy, and effective communication and interaction with non-financial management, along with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Bonus: CPA preferred.
