• Mission: The primary mission of this role is to meticulously plan, organize, and implement a diverse range of activity and leisure pursuits, ensuring they meet the comprehensive social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational, and physical needs and interests of all residents.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Planning: Meticulously plan and design comprehensive programs of activity and leisure pursuits tailored to cater to the diverse needs and interests of all residents.
• Program Organization: Strategically organize a variety of activities structured to address residents’ social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational, and physical needs.
• Program Implementation: Actively implement and facilitate engaging activity and leisure pursuits, bringing designed programs to life for the benefit of residents.
• Resident-Centered Approach: Develop and adapt pursuits specifically designed to meet the unique social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational, and physical needs and interests of each resident.
• Care Plan Integration: Ensure all activities and leisure pursuits are delivered and documented in strict accordance with each resident’s individualized comprehensive care plan.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Accreditation as a Certified Activity Director, demonstrating a professional standard in the field; Completion of a state-approved Activity Director training course, ensuring foundational knowledge and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Skills: Proficiency in planning, organizing, and implementing a diverse range of activity and leisure programs; Ability to assess and address the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational, and physical needs of residents; Competence in adhering to and integrating activities with comprehensive resident care plans.
• Bonus: One year of preferred experience specifically as an Activity Director within a long-term care setting; Additionally, two years of preferred experience in conducting social or recreational programs within the past five years, with at least one of those years being full-time in a resident activities program within a health care setting.
