Transportation Manager | Performance Food Group

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Performance Food Group, located in Hayward, CA. In this role, the Transportation Manager directly contributes to the division and customer experience by co-directing all functions of the transportation department, supporting America’s vital food distribution system. The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-time, salaried, Monday-Friday with variable hours
• Location: In-person, Hayward, CA
• Pay: $100000–$110000 yearly
• Team: Co-directs the Transportation Department
• Mission: This person will manage all transportation functions, including drivers, routes, and maintenance, to ensure efficient and safe delivery operations and enhance customer experiences.
• Tech Stack: Transportation management software, tracking systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), routing and distribution, logistic computer software

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Oversight: Co-direct all functions of the Transportation Department, including creating and managing annual business plans and ensuring timely implementation of programs.
• Fleet Management: Coordinate the maintenance, fueling, and repairs of vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure drivers meet required operating skills, training, testing, and transportation reporting, while promoting and managing a safe and secure working environment.
• Financial Stewardship: Manage the transportation budget and discover opportunities to improve routing operations and increase back-haul revenues.
• Team Leadership: Foster the professional growth of department personnel through performance management, creating open lines of communication, and assisting in selection, hiring, and management.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager level, with a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus 2 years of higher education, and in-depth knowledge of transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Experience: 5 years of transportation supervisory/management experience, and 2 years of demonstrated experience in budget creation and management.
• Skills: Proficiency in transportation management software and tracking systems, intermediate Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word), ability to manage routing and distribution and logistic computer software, strong analytical and critical evaluation skills, and effective verbal and written communication.
• Bonus: Ability to quickly address and resolve transportation issues.
