Operations Supervisor | Central Transport

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Central Transport. Central Transport is a privately owned LTL carrier with a network of over 200 locations, servicing manufacturing and retail companies for almost 90 years. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of terminal operations, ensuring timely freight movement, and supporting the continuous expansion and improvement of the company’s service network. • Team: Leads a team of up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel.
• Mission: Ensure the efficient and safe execution of outbound terminal operations and achieve production targets by managing drivers and dock personnel.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Oversight: Oversee outbound operations for a designated section of the terminal dock, including loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Team Leadership: Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve designated production schedules.
• Load Building: Utilize independent judgment to build loads based on available labor and freight levels, ensuring proper cube and weight of trailers.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor dock production to ensure facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met or exceeded, and monitor hours and overtime.
• Compliance & Safety: Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards, ensuring company operational model compliance and supporting a culture of service excellence.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Management level, with experience managing teams in transportation operations. Core domain knowledge in the LTL trucking industry, including prior management, dispatch, and dock experience.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience managing teams within transportation. Required experience in management, dispatch, and dock operations, specifically within the LTL trucking industry. Must be able to work an average of 50 hours/week, including nights/weekends, in various weather conditions, and under tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
• Skills: Strong leadership (hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring), high aptitude for technology, ability to multi-task while being detail-oriented, excellent written/listening/verbal communication, and a commitment to customer service excellence.
• Bonus: An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
