Operations Supervisor | Central Transport

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Central Transport, located in St Louis, MO. Central Transport is a leading, technologically advanced LTL carrier operating over 200 locations, dedicated to continuous expansion and improvement for its diverse manufacturing and retail clientele. As an Operations Supervisor, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and safe execution of terminal dock operations. Your leadership will directly contribute to achieving production schedules and upholding the company’s commitment to service excellence for its vast customer network.

• Mission: This person owns the efficient and safe execution of terminal dock operations, ensuring production schedules and service excellence are consistently met.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Operations: Oversee designated sections of the terminal dock, encompassing freight loading, forklift traffic, and proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Lead Team: Supervise up to 30 LTL road drivers and dock personnel to effectively achieve a designated production schedule.
• Plan Logistics: Utilize independent judgment to strategically build loads based on available labor and current freight levels.
• Monitor Performance: Track dock production and ensure facility Key Performance Indicator goals are consistently met or exceeded.
• Ensure Safety: Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring full compliance with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Supervisor-level role requiring foundational knowledge in transportation, cross-docking, or shipping and receiving environments.
• Experience: Proficiency in customs and cross-border transportation is essential for this position.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong leadership qualities, a high aptitude for technology, exceptional ability to multi-task while maintaining detail orientation, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Bonus: An Associate or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, as is prior experience specifically within the LTL industry.
