Assistant General Manager | Panera Bread
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Panera Bread, located in-person at our various bakery-cafes. Panera Bread operates beloved neighborhood bakery-cafes, focusing on providing quality food and a welcoming environment for guests and team members. This role is crucial for fostering a supportive culture for team members and ensuring excellent service for guests, directly contributing to the daily success and growth of the business.

• Mission: Leads and develops teams to ensure successful bakery-cafe operations and consistent guest delight.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Leadership Support: Support the General Manager by making key decisions and solving operational challenges for the bakery-cafe.
• Team Development: Lead staffing needs, manage shift schedules, and develop team members through hiring, training, motivation, and succession planning.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operations, ensuring the bakery-cafe consistently meets quality standards, service expectations, and achieves business goals.
• Culture Building: Foster a culture of warmth, belonging, growth, and trust by inspiring and celebrating the team and building engaging relationships with guests.
• Compliance & Cost Control: Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulations while assisting with overall cost and inventory management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum 18 years of age, with a foundational understanding of bakery-cafe operations and management principles.
• Experience: Proven ability to drive positive business results through strong business acumen; demonstrated capacity to lead shifts, directing, motivating, coaching, and developing teams in a fast-paced environment; and at least one year of restaurant management experience preferred.
• Skills: Expertise in team leadership and development, operational decision-making, problem-solving, and the ability to achieve ServSafe certification.
