What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Planning: Plan, perform, and report contract audit assignments related to procurement and contracting activities between the Federal Government and contractors.
• Data Analysis: Prepare working papers and analyze contractor data utilizing automation tools.
• Cost Verification: Perform assigned audit steps such as testing and examining a contractor’s direct labor and material costs.
• Document Review: Check reports, records, ledgers, and other documents against invoices, receipts, and payroll slips to verify transaction accuracy.
• Charge Appropriateness: Verify the appropriateness of charges for materials and labor and determine that transactions have been properly recorded.
• Working Papers: Maintain audit working papers, including the preparation of schedules, summaries, and reconciliations as instructed.
• Team Collaboration: Participate with team members, providing updates on audit assignment status, sharing information, and identifying necessary revisions to audit programs or annual team goals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position requiring a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting, or a related degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Public Administration that includes 24 semester hours of accounting (which may include up to 6 hours in business law).
• Experience: No professional or prior auditing experience is needed.
• Skills: Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a GPA of 2.95 or above. The ability to perform detailed checks, analysis, and maintain records is essential.
