Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, located in New York, USA, requiring a hybrid presence at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and one remote day. The TL;DR

• Pay: $180000–$210000 yearly
• Team: Manages a small team and provides oversight to the EMEA CSR Team.
• Mission: To build and execute a comprehensive philanthropy, volunteerism, and community engagement strategy for MUFG Americas, aligned with global counterparts and enterprise DEI.
• Tech Stack: Grants management software systems, new platforms for tracking initiatives, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, Virtual Applications.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategy: Establish and operationalize an integrated philanthropy strategy for MUFG Americas, ensuring alignment with the enterprise DEI strategy.
• Governance: Own the community engagement governance and operating model, including standards, decision rights, escalation paths, and process documentation across teams and locations.
• Grants Management: Enhance and improve grants management processes, including systems transformation, operations management, and the creation of grant making protocols.
• Reporting & Measurement: Establish impact measurement frameworks, KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting to evaluate community investment and employee engagement outcomes.
• Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and develop direct reports and team members, including setting priorities, clarifying ownership, and strengthening team capability and performance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, community development, or public affairs, or an equivalent combination of training.
• Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in Philanthropy or Corporate Social Responsibility, including demonstrated success leading strategic community outreach plans and managing, coaching, and developing teams. Requires business experience and a strong understanding of the financial services industry.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, self-starter with excellent attention to detail, proficiency in program and project management and planning, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Graduate degree preferred; general awareness of local community organizations serving non-profits and LMI communities strongly preferred; strong ability to build networks with nonprofits in major US cities; experience providing oversight for regional CSR or community engagement teams (e.g., EMEA); experience working with Chief of Staff teams and Site Champions.
