Compliance Coordinator | DLA Piper

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at DLA Piper, located in Atlanta, Baltimore, Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Short Hills, Washington, DC, or Wilmington with a hybrid work schedule. This position supports the Office of General Counsel in administering compliance operations and risk management, contributing to the firm’s strategic initiatives.

• Team: Office of General Counsel (OGC)
• Mission: Coordinate administrative aspects of firm compliance operations and risk management initiatives, including due diligence.
• Tech Stack: Word, Excel, Outlook, databases

What You’ll Actually Do
• Review: Organize and conduct initial reviews of background checks for potential timekeeper candidates.
• Track: Monitor compliance issues from their initial identification through resolution.
• Monitor: Support the ongoing monitoring of attorney licensing compliance.
• Research: Investigate and respond to compliance requests from firm attorneys and business professionals.
• Manage: Contribute to the creation and maintenance of essential databases.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree. Career level: Early-Level. Possesses foundational knowledge in legal compliance and risk management support functions, operating within a large firm’s Office of General Counsel to uphold ethical standards and regulatory adherence.
• Experience: 2 years demonstrated success working in a legal environment.
• Skills: Demonstrated basic level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and database systems; strong communication and interpersonal abilities required to interact with paralegals, attorneys, and internal clients; excellent organizational skills and attention-to-detail necessary to manage high volume of complex data; ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines effectively; capability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion with regard to highly confidential OGC work and sensitive information.
• Bonus: Office experience in a law firm or other legal environment supporting paralegals and/or attorneys.
