Behar | Gibbs | Savage | Paulson LLP is a growing California litigation firm that focuses on representing insurance carriers, businesses, and public entities in complex civil litigation matters throughout the state. This position is vital for providing comprehensive support to experienced attorneys who manage high-exposure litigation, from the initial stages of a case all the way through trial. The role is designed for a detail-oriented professional seeking meaningful involvement in case strategy and trial preparation within a trial-focused environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Management & Support: Manage litigation files comprehensively from inception through trial, including maintaining litigation calendars, monitoring critical deadlines, and coordinating and processing all necessary filings in California state and federal courts. You will also communicate directly with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Legal Research & Document Preparation: Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw and/or LexisNexis. This includes drafting, revising, and proofreading a variety of legal documents such as pleadings, correspondence, case summaries, legal memoranda, and detailed litigation analyses.
• Discovery Process Management: Draft and respond to written discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission. You will also organize, review, and analyze extensive document productions, and prepare meet-and-confer correspondence and other discovery-related materials, coordinating the retention of medical experts and transmitting medical records.
• Motion & Pleading Support: Assist attorneys in the preparation of a wide range of motions, such as summary judgment motions, demurrers, motions to strike, and discovery motions. This involves compiling all supporting exhibits, declarations, and essential evidentiary materials, and preparing the complete package for court submission.
• Deposition & Trial Preparation: Coordinate all aspects of deposition scheduling and preparation, including summarizing deposition transcripts and identifying key testimony. You will assist attorneys during depositions, mediations, and trial, and meticulously organize trial exhibits, witness files, and comprehensive trial binders.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A minimum of 4 years of experience serving as a Paralegal, with a strong preference for experience specifically within litigation. Candidates must possess a strong knowledge base of California civil procedure and court rules.
• Experience: Proven experience with California court e-filing systems is required, alongside proficiency in conducting legal research using either Westlaw or LexisNexis.
• Skills: Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills are essential. The role demands excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also critical for interacting with various parties.
• Bonus: The ability to prioritize multiple assignments effectively and consistently meet deadlines in a demanding environment. Candidates should also demonstrate the capacity to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a team.
