The Department of the Prosecuting Attorney serves the City and County of Honolulu, the most densely populated of Hawaii’s five counties. Dedicated to ensuring public safety and upholding justice, the Department operates within a mayor-council government structure, as established by the City and County’s charter adopted in 1959, for a community of approximately 905,601 residents (2007).
