Legal Assistant | ForFutures Financial, Planning, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services LLC

The Tone:
This is a hybrid Legal Assistant role at ForFutures Financial, Planning, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services LLC, requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and remote work on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The current office is in Boston, Massachusetts, with a planned relocation outside the city later this year. This position supports the First American Law Group, a division of First American Title Insurance Company, which is dedicated to proficiently representing insured owners and lenders in resolving complex real estate title issues. The Legal Assistant plays an integral role in providing essential litigation and administrative support to the Law Group’s attorneys, fostering close collaboration with in-house litigation counsel within a friendly, supportive, and collegial environment, directly contributing to successful legal outcomes and the firm’s overarching mission.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative & File Management: Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys, including mail processing, copying, scanning, telephone screening, and organizing/maintaining electronic files.
• External Correspondence: Correspond effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel on behalf of the legal team.
• Litigation Document Handling: Accurately file and serve pleadings, coordinating service of process and the publication of legal notices.
• Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate and schedule essential legal proceedings such as hearings, depositions, and mediations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An experienced professional with a high school diploma or equivalent is required for this role, bringing a foundational understanding to support legal operations effectively.
• Experience: Candidates must possess five years of related experience within a legal or administrative support capacity, ideally in a litigation environment. Proficiency is required in Adobe Pro and the full MS Office Suite, encompassing Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, to manage document creation, communication, and collaboration efficiently.
• Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are paramount for professional interaction with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Strong organizational abilities are essential, with a demonstrated capacity to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a legal setting. The ideal candidate must be highly detail-oriented and possess the ability to work independently, taking initiative to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all legal support functions.
