Bankruptcy Paralegal | Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, located in New York City or Baltimore. This position is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and filing of legal documentation, directly supporting attorneys in federal and state court bankruptcy matters.

The TL;DR

• Mission: This paralegal will ensure all legal filings and documentation for bankruptcy cases meet court standards and deadlines, supporting attorneys in various federal court proceedings.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Filings & Compliance: Ensure all legal documentation complies with federal and state rules of procedure and evidence for format, content, and filing, preparing and filing documents with Federal Courts via CM/ECF.
• Document Drafting: Draft various federal legal documents such as summonses, briefs, motions, responses, agendas, fee applications, bankruptcy petitions and other first day pleadings, schedules and SOFAs, and discovery related pleadings for attorney review and use.
• Legal Research: Assist with basic legal research, including locating cases, statutes, and regulatory materials, and conduct fact research on the internet and private search engines like Westlaw and Lexis.
• Case Organization: Collect, organize, and maintain discovery and research files, prepare responses to discovery demands, and manage calendars of critical case deadlines and master case contact lists.
• Information Gathering: Conduct UCC searches and real property searches to determine the status of liens, and research public documents including retrieving UCC’s, court records, Dun & Bradstreet reports, and Secretary of State filings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Five or more years of experience handling bankruptcy matters in a mid to large sized law firm.
• Experience: Ability to electronically file documents with federal courts, including familiarity with PACER and CM/ECF systems.
• Skills: Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), excellent client service, and the ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.).
