The Tone:
This is an Associate Attorney role at THE LAW FIRM OF TAMARA ROFF, P.C., with a hybrid work arrangement requiring one day weekly in-office at our Midtown Manhattan location. The firm operates as a small boutique, dedicated to representing families of students with disabilities seeking appropriate educational services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This position is crucial for independently managing a caseload, providing essential legal support, and securing vital educational rights for vulnerable students.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Support: Provide legal support and counsel to clients navigating special education claims.
• Relationship Management: Maintain strong client relationships throughout the legal process.
• Legal Drafting: Conduct legal research and prepare various legal documents.
• Agreement Review: Review and analyze settlement agreements for client cases.
• Litigation Management: Handle all phases of litigation in an administrative law forum, including preparing openings, closings, direct testimony, and cross-examination.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Admission to the New York State Bar.
• Experience: Demonstrated litigation experience.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a solid foundation of legal knowledge.
• Bonus: Experience or knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and special education law.
