Restructuring Paralegal | Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP
The Tone:
This is a full-time, non-exempt, hybrid role at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, located in Chicago or New York. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,300 lawyers across 16 offices in six countries. This role is crucial for supporting the Restructuring Department by managing case files, drafting essential documents, and facilitating trial preparations, ensuring all legal standards are met and operations run smoothly.

• Mission: Support attorneys in the Restructuring Department by expertly managing case logistics, drafting critical documents, and coordinating trial preparations to ensure efficient workflow and strict adherence to legal standards.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Case Management: Oversee and maintain case files, dockets, and critical deadlines across multiple matters while assisting with all phases of case administration and first-day filing preparation.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly fee statements and interim/final fee applications, ensuring compliance with U.S. Trustee guidelines by reviewing time entries.
• Document Production: Draft standard bankruptcy documents, including notices, motions, petitions, and proofs of claim, and coordinate their filing via CM/ECF and claims agent websites.
• Legal Research: Conduct comprehensive legal research using Lexis and Westlaw, performing cite-checking, fact-checking, and Shepardizing in accordance with the Bluebook.
• Litigation Support: Provide essential support for all phases of bankruptcy trial and hearing preparation, ensuring materials are accurate, complete, and timely filed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Professional with foundational knowledge of bankruptcy laws, practices, and local rules across various jurisdictions.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a law firm, specifically handling restructuring matters in a large firm environment.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, strong technical and administrative capabilities, keen attention to detail, ability to multi-task effectively, and capacity for both independent and collaborative work.
• Bonus: Notary certification
