Collections Paralegal | Wilson Elser

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Wilson Elser, located in White Plains, NY. This role is crucial in supporting the firm’s collections practice by managing essential litigation data, drafting legal documents, and coordinating with clients and vendors. • Mission: To facilitate the collections legal process by managing litigation data, drafting legal documents, and ensuring compliance, supporting efficient debt recovery for clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Onboarding: Facilitate conflict checks and incorporate new client assignments into the case management system.
• Document Preparation: Draft and prepare summonses, complaints, judgments, executions, motions, and other legal documents.
• Case Management: Maintain client, debtor, and litigation data within the case management system and monitor court calendar diaries for deadlines and appearances.
• Vendor Coordination: Interact with partner vendors to effectuate service of process for filed complaints.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients to develop supporting information and documentation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree is required, with foundational knowledge in general litigation practices within NYS State Courts.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in general litigation specific to NYS State Courts.
• Skills: Extremely detail-oriented, strong written and verbal communication skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to effectively prioritize a heavy workload.
• Bonus: A paralegal certificate is preferred.
