The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at a leading international law firm, located in New York, NY, within its Litigation Department’s Managing Attorney’s Office. The firm is recognized for its extensive legal practice and seeks a dedicated Docket Clerk to uphold its high standards. This position is central to the efficient operation of the department, ensuring the firm-wide docket and calendar are meticulously maintained, all filings are processed accurately and on time, and litigation teams receive expert guidance on critical deadlines and procedural protocols across state, federal, and regulatory matters.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Calendaring: Maintain the firm’s comprehensive litigation and Intellectual Property (patents, trademarks, copyrights, and annuities) calendars using a firm-approved calendaring program, ensuring accurate and timely entry of all relevant deadlines and preparing additional reports upon request.
• Communication & Quality Control: Regularly communicate critical deadlines to firm-wide litigation teams, screening incoming court documents and correspondence, and upholding responsibility for the quality control of all docket and calendar entries.
• Filings & Court Relations: Assist with and handle electronic case filings (ECF) and hard copy filings, coordinate service of process with vendors, and retrieve documents from courts and government agencies.
• Advisory & Research Support: Advise members of the Litigation Department on the calculation of deadlines, court rules, civil procedure, and filing protocols, utilizing court-related databases like PACER, Bloomberg Law, Lexis, and Westlaw for information extraction.
• Departmental Operations: Coordinate court and bar admissions for attorneys, maintain electronic court filing (ECF) passwords, and assist with reviewing new cases and rule changes to keep lawyers apprised of recent developments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree required. This is a Mid-Senior level role focused on legal administrative support within a litigation department.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of dedicated docketing and calendaring experience, coupled with proficiency in online court systems such as PACER and NYSCEF, and specialized software like CompuLaw or CourtAlert.
• Skills:
• Ability to apply court rules in multiple jurisdictions quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
• Strong organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail and discretion in handling confidential information.
• Well-developed professional interpersonal skills and a high commitment to client service.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, coupled with a positive, high-energy approach.
• Proficiency with MS Office and standard PC applications.
